Keithlin Caroo-Afrifa

Founder | Executive Director

Keithlin started Helen’s Daughters off the side of her desk with her own time and funds, while working at the UN. She left the UN to run it fulltime and is working hard to move it from a non-profit to a social enterprise, which is very unusual for the Caribbean, where social enterprise is poorly understood. A rural woman, first and foremost, Ms. Caroo is an advocate and changemaker in the fields of gender equity in agriculture and rural development in St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis and St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The organization has single-handedly changed the perception of women in farming from their free training programs targeting rural women, free rural health clinics, farm-to-table cooking show and now their agri-tourism network that will allow women in agriculture to earn additional streams of income.

Ms. Caroo is a One Young World Ambassador, the recipient of the 2018 National Youth Award in Agriculture, a Thought for Food Ambassador, a Forbes Island Innovation feature, an Ashoka fellow and a Queen’s award recipient (MBE) for humanitarian services.
